I found Mr Chang very helpful and approachable from the outset. At my initial consultation he was very understanding of the reasons why I wished to transfer my care to him and his team and confirmed straight away that he would be happy to take me on as a patient. He also acknowledged that an early admission for the procedure I required would be important for achieving an optimal outcome and indicated that he would do his best to ensure that this came about. From this point, my journey from initial consultation to pre-op and ultimately to actual admission was dealt with extremely efficiently. The care I subsequently received from Mr Chang and his team during my hospital stay was first class. I also received several bedside visits from Mr Chang personally in which he explained clearly and concisely the details of the procedure that he had overseen and what I could expect during my recovery period. Follow up upon discharge from hospital has been as equally efficient. To sum up, I cannot fault the care I have received from Mr Chang. I have found him to be impeccably professional throughout my dealings with him and whilst I hope not to need his services in the future, I would happily place myself back in his care. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone who requires his area of expertise.

Firstly I have to say what a credit Mr Chang is to Epsom and St Helier! I first met Mr Chang after a malignant tumour was found during a colonoscopy after suffering from bowel cancer symptoms. Being quite young for bowel cancer at 36 I was very nervous when I first walked into the appointment but I left feeling very reassured and confident in Mr Chang as he explained everything so clearly and kindly. I had laparoscopic high anterior resection surgery, where Mr Chang removed 13-15cm of my bowel. I was aware that I may have to have a stoma but I woke up to no stoma and the surgery went perfectly. He even came to check on me daily while I was in hospital, which I very much appreciated. My recovery was great and I was back home a week later with no complications. It’s been 3 weeks since my surgery and everything is going great and I’m feeling stronger by the day with regular bowel movements and minimal pain. I can’t put into words how grateful I am for such a wonderful surgeon, Mr Chang not only performed an operation which saved my life, but his kindness is what sets him apart from so many. Someone wrote on here that it’s fate to have him as a surgeon and I couldn’t agree more.

I first saw Mr Chang when I was losing weight rapidly and had lost my appetite and sense of taste. Mr Chang assured me that this was unlikely to be as a result of my previous Covid but he was concerned about a more serious cause. He arranged for me to be referred to St George's Hospital for a mesenteric angiogram that showed that the two main arteries to my stomach/ intestine area were blocked and the third alternative artery was furring up. Within five days I had an operation to install a stent to reconnect my blood supply. Since then I have recovered the weight that I had lost and my sense of taste has returned. I believe that I owe my life to Mr Cheng who listened to my issues and used his considerable knowledge and experience to effect my recovery. He is a very approachable man and a great credit to his profession. Mrs Carol Anne Coogan

I am incredibly grateful to have met Dr. Tou Pin Chang. During a challenging time, he performed a life-saving operation, which allowed me to write this review. He is an exceptional doctor and a true blessing. I feel incredibly fortunate that fate led me to him when I needed most help.

I had been diagnosed with bowel cancer and it was my first meeting with Mr Tou Pin Chang and his team before they carried out surgery to remove a tumour in my colon. He explained that he was going to try and do keyhole surgery but explained that may not be possible and he needed to protect the ileal conduit which was done in 2016. He explained everything very clearly and I was confident of a satisfactory outcome. I was also grateful that he came to see me after the surgery in the high dependency unit and later, the recovery ward before I was discharged. 2 weeks later I met with him as a follow up and he said that everything had gone well and that the large tumour in my colon turned out to be non-malignant . Mr Tou Pin Chang is a highly professional consultant surgeon and is to be recommended for a successful outcome .
